Alison’s Garden & Landscape was established in 1997 by Alison Flakemore (Founding Director)
In 1997 Alison set about launching her vision of a female owned garden & landscape business. From humble beginnings she started out with an old van a lawn mower, basic hand tools and working from home, delivering flyers in her local community. Within weeks her clientele was growing and her first employee joined the business.
Through the early years of business Alison faced many challenges and rejection being a female in the industry, by advancing her practices, finding solutions and forging forward through adverse times she edged into the commercial market.
In 2000, Alison identified through female intuition and attention to detail she was delivering a comprehensive service above and beyond expectations and incorporated this into her business model and secured her first Government contract. A further 2 years later saw Alison’s with an additional 4 Government contracts, by 2007 Alison had united the entire 9 Southern Government contracts and now maintains Southern Tasmania, being awarded this contract again in 2013.
In 2009 Alison moved away from being a sole trader and became a Company Pty Ltd. In the same year her eldest son joined the business, training in Horticulture and taking forward his mother’s business vision, not long after Alison’s youngest son joined forces specialising in Landscape, Cartage and Excavation.
Alison was nominated in 2011 Telstra Business Women’s Awards and selected as a finalist in the business owner category.
Alison expanded her company mid-2016 to incorporate Gutter Cleaning with the purchase of a state of the art machine, with the capacity to down load camera footage and assess maintenance concerns.
2017 – Alison won the Tasmanian Telstra Business Women’s Entrepreneur Award.
2018 – Alison expanded into Cartage and Excavation
2018 – Alison expanded into Commercial cleaning
2019 – Alison’s Garden & Landscape Pty Ltd was selected as a Finalist in the Small Business Awards
Alison employs a professional team of employees, highly qualified and inclusive of Alison’s business vision, a fleet of vehicles ranging from garden maintenance, Trucks, Excavators, Landscape, vacant land slashing, gutter cleaning and Commercial cleaning.
